Nvida just released the beta version of the new 256 series of their Verde graphics card drivers, according to Nvida themselves, these new drivers provide up to a 25% boost in graphics capabilities of many games.
These drivers will be the first graphics card drivers from Nvida which will incorporate Blu-ray 3D acceleration for computers, but users would still need a 3D display to enjoy 3D Blu-ray movies using the new drivers.
The new drivers also include new setup controls and visual quality modes so users will have more control over how their graphics processing units are configured in addition to official support for CUDA 3.1 and OpenGL 4.0.
Nvida also reported last month that they will begin to merge notebook and desktop drivers, and the 256 series is the first drivers to follows this policy.
The company originally announced that these drivers will include support for Nvida’s 3D vision surround, but this is not currently includes as the company reports it needs additional testing but should have this ready for the second release sometime next month.
